The form of clown in which I work and briefly studied does not involved face paint, fright wigs, balloon animals, or serial killing. And all of these productions (with the exception of “A Christmas Carol”) were firmly rooted in the tradition of clown.įor those unfamiliar with the theatrical world the word “clown” likely conjures up images of, at best, birthday clowns, at worst serial killers. Since 2014 I have been self-producing original work, and as of 2021 I have created seven original theatre pieces (or, less pretentiously, plays), plus an audio adaptation of “A Christmas Carol”. It’s at this point that I should backtrack a bit and explain exactly why the idea of my directing “Three Sisters” – to say nothing of my being in it as one of the titular sisters – should be so unlikely.
